A driving lesson lasts 90 minutes, unless otherwise agreed. This is to ensure that there will be enough time to drive to the exam-practice area, practice, and then drive back. You will be picked up at your home, and at the end of the lesson you will drive to meet the next pupil, who will then in turn bring you back home.
The first lessons take place on quiet roads in proximity of residential areas, where you will be taught the basic driving skills such as correct sitting position, steering and changing gear. Then there follow a number of lessons dedicated to learning the special maoeuvres, whereby the student can acquire a good contol of the vehicle. After that, the lessons will be given in and around the city of Arnhem, where there is a large variety of traffic situations to be dealt with. In the course of these lessons you will also have the opportunity to get accustomed to the driving test area.
How many lessons are needed differs for each person. It depends, among other things, on talent, motivation, age and learning style. For this reason I have chosen to schedule only single lessons, instead of providing package deals: it is very difficult, after just one introductory lesson, to be able to estimate the number of lessons someone will need in order to be ready for the driving test. By working with single lessons, you avoid taking more lessons than actually necessary. On average the number of required lessons to pass the test is around thirty.
You’re allowed to start taking driving lessons from the age of 16,5 years. You do not need a theory certificate in order to take driving lessons.
The driving school car is a Hyundai i20 with diesel engine and manual gearbox. This is a compact, convenient and user-friendly car and therefore very well suited for it’s purpose.
